Velvet Twenty-One: how it plays
Velvet Twenty-One is classic twenty-one against the dealer, dealt from a 6-deck shoe. Get closer to 21 than the dealer without going over. Stakes and returns are in Pebbles, which have no money value.
Play Velvet Twenty-OnePlaying a round
- Choose your stake and press Deal. You and the dealer get two cards each; one dealer card stays face down.
- Hit to take another card, or Stand to keep your total.
- Double adds the same stake again on your first two cards and gives you exactly one more card.
- Split turns a pair into two hands, each with its own stake. You can split once per round.
- When your hands are done the dealer turns the hidden card and plays, then every hand is settled.
What each hand pays, for the stake on that hand
| Result | Pays |
|---|---|
| Blackjack (Ace with a ten-value card as your first two cards) | 3 to 2 |
| Hand beats the dealer, or the dealer goes over 21 | 1 to 1 |
| Same total as the dealer (push) | Stake returned |
| Dealer beats the hand, or the hand goes over 21 | Stake lost |

Good to know
- The dealer draws to 16 and stands on all 17s, soft or hard.
- When the dealer shows an Ace or a ten-value card, the dealer checks for blackjack before you play. A dealer blackjack takes only your first stake, and pushes against your blackjack.
- Split Aces get one card each. A two-card 21 after a split counts as 21, not blackjack. You may double after splitting any pair except Aces.
- No insurance and no surrender.
- The shoe is shuffled before the next round once the cut card comes out, about three quarters of the way through the shoe. Every shuffle is shown on the table.
- Every result is decided by your browser's cryptographic random number generator at the moment you play. Your account, level and earlier rounds make no difference.
- Without an account the game runs in demo mode with practice credits that are not saved. Signed-in players use their Pebbles.
- Pebbles have no cash value and cannot be bought or exchanged. If you run out, you can top up for free.
